East Carolina Neurology Announces the Hiring of Dr. Rukmini Menon and Dr. Shawnna Lee Patterson
East Carolina Neurology (ECN) is pleased to announce two new staff appointments, Dr. Rukmini Menon and Dr. Shawnna Lee Patterson.
Dr. R. Menon
As general neurologists, Drs. Menon and Patterson bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their new posts. Dr. Menon’s specialty is in sleep medicine, while Dr. Patterson will focus on stroke prevention and treatment. She also serves as the lead physician for ECN’s new Headache Clinic.
A native of India, Dr. Menon received her medical education there, and moved to the United States to continue her advanced degree training. She completed an Internal Medicine internship at the Graduate Hospital of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2005, and completed her Neurology Residency and Fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC in 2009.
Dr. S. Patterson
Dr. Patterson, originally from Stuart, Florida, completed her Ph.D. at The University of Iowa and received her Neurology Residency at The University of Maryland Medical Systems in Baltimore, MD in 2005. Continuing in her educational pursuits, Dr. Patterson became a Neurology Postdoctoral Research Fellow, completing the Stroke Research Enhancement Award Program at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Baltimore, MD in 2007.Before accepting the staff position at East Carolina Neurology, she was most recently employed as a neurologist at the Brain and Spine Center in Panama City, Florida.
