John W. Gibbs, III Named One of Best Doctors in NC

Greenville—East Carolina Neurology’s John W. Gibbs, III, MD, PhD, has been named one of the best doctors in North Carolina for 2009 – 2010 by Best Doctors, Inc. (www.bestdoctors.com).

Best Doctors, Inc., headquartered in Boston, polls physicians annually to find the best doctors globally. Founded in 1989 by two Harvard Medical School affiliated physicians, Best Doctors seek out physician experts in over 400 specialties and sub- specialties throughout the world.

This year, 1,432 physicians were recognized in North Carolina, including doctors in 46 specialties, as reported on BusinessNC.com. Dr. Gibbs is one of 55 physicians noted in the specialty area of neurology, and the only neurologist in Greenville to receive the accolade.

Dr. Gibbs joined the East Carolina Neurology team in 2004. He attended the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth, where he received his PhD and MD. He completed his residency at Duke University Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Resident and later become a Fellow in Neurophysiology.

Dr. Gibbs was also recognized as one of the Best Doctors in America during

2007 – 2008. His areas of medical interest include sleep medicine, epilepsy, and equilibrium disorders/dizziness. Dr. Gibbs serves as Assistant Clinic Professor of Medicine, Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University, Greenville, NC.
